Scope

Define the adult population, intervention, comparator, outcome, timeframe and intended decision.

Claim decomposition

Separate efficacy, effect size, population transferability, safety and practical implementation claims.

Evidence check

Distinguish controlled studies, observational findings, reviews, expert commentary and secondary summaries.

Alternatives

Test regression to the mean, selection effects, measurement changes, co-interventions and publication bias.

Weakest link

The headline effect depends on a subgroup analysis that was not the study’s primary endpoint.
